Noob question time.

I've ordered a CPL for my camera and it comes with a UV filter too.

As I understand it - UV filters are only really good as a glass protector so, is there any point in stacking the UV on top of the CPL?

Well, UV filters cut down on the amount of blue light getting to the lens (you can get different strength filters) and they also can somewhat reduce the amount of haze you might get in an image.
As a protector they can work really well, and I guess these days with people shooting digital a UV filter isn't really necessary (colour film has an actual physical property that reacted to the use of UV filters).
But yeah, as the post above says, there's no need to stack them.

Doesn't stacking filters cause issues with internal reflections as well as degraded imae quality? Some of the pros advocate not using anything other than a lens hood for protection.

CPL was great when i went to car shows to reduce reflections.

If you can put two images in front of anyone and get them to guess which has the UV filter and which doesn't, I would be astonished.
Someone did a test stacking over 50 (IIRC) and of course, the image was a mess.

This might be helpful - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPWDsQ4bCuo

As a side note, I've felt that film benefitted more from a PL than digital does. Digital, to me, just feels like you've dropped in an ND unless you're controlling reflections on a car body or specifically trying to lose water reflections, or the polarising effects of some perspex windows.

I didn't think it was necessary, but it's always worth checking - thanks for the replies, chaps. :)
