I'll have a look at this tonight, see how many of each format I can squeeze onto 2GB

Yeah I can reduce the quality of the Jpegs. Even changing down from 'superfine' to just 'fine' would be a noticable decrease in size. On any day out with the camera though there's likely to be a lot of pictures I'm just happy to keep as the high quality Jpeg, especially if they're just snapshots. It's not like I have a 'proper' workflow setup and tend to only process the RAW of the few rather than the many. Thats why I like the benefit of having both formats. Its not everyones cup of tea but it suits my needs perfectly right now.

Fair enough then. In that case an extra memory card might be in order.

Unfortunately not no..... "The Microsoft RAW Image Thumbnailer and Viewer provides the ability to view, organize, and print photos captured in RAW image formats from supported Canon and Nikon digital cameras."

That's far too much data for something wit ha limited read/write cycle. I prefer carrying a few 8GB drives with me. A lot cheaper when they wear out

The gadget freak in me is licking his lips. The sensible me is thinking one 8GB Extreme III will be plenty

RAW+Jpeg = 52 pics on 2GB RAW = 83 pics on 2GB Thats an extra 31 without the Jpeg option. Ive seen a Lexar 8GB 133x for about £15-20 cheaper than the Sandisk Extreme III. Its just as fast too. Looks like a good option.

Does anyone know is there is a Vista / Win7 version of this, I would quite like to browse my .CR2's without opening LightRoom. btw do you know if those SDXC cards will be compatible with SDHC slots and cameras, else I can't see many people upgrading as 32GB seems more than enough even for camcorders. For reference I can get approx 320 RAW files on my Extreme III card. Joe(noob)
