  • ISO 12,800 Maximum
  • Dual Pixel CMOS Autofocus
  • Full HD Video
  • HDR

I was ready to go for the 60D but wanted to wait out for the 70D. Looks more comparable to the 7D in terms of 19 pt AF system (60D has 9 pt) and 7fps (compared to 8 for the 7D and 5.4 for the 60D).

It would be nice if they gave the SNR at different ISO.

I'm pretty impressed.

I want to see a hands-on review - mainly with the autofocussing system. Slightly disappointed at the lack of a better body - it weighs the same as the 60D. But otherwise this looks to be the one to buy for me! :D

I quite like the weight of the 60D. If you're lugging it about for long periods, I wouldn't get that excited about having a really heavy camera body.

It is the weight of the glass more than the weight of the camera, but it all adds up so no one thing is better or worse, though I will add to that that I'd rather have a slightly heavier camera than one that's too light.

I did pick up and try a 60D once but it was right after picking up a 7D so it did feel light, cheap and plasticky but having said that, I made the effort of picking up a 60D recently with a kit lens and it felt fine. The buttons were a bit soft and mushy though.

Absolutely, and I think the 60D is in a pretty sweet spot between having a body that's got enough mass to be handheld reliably without moving during the shot, and being a hassle to wear for long periods. The 550D is positively lightweight in comparison.

60D is lush in the hands. The buttons are absolutely not. It's that simple.

If the 70D fixes that for a reasonable price, happy days.

But you really should buy a Nikon or a Pentax. For the money, both of their mid-range bodies blow the Canon's away.

If you're determined to stick to Canon, it'll cost you.

If you're still thinking of going Canon - 24-105mm lens for £550, which is a bit of a steal.

Bump. Was released in Australia yesterday and presumably rest of the world soon enough.

I'm so so tempted to just splash out now rather than wait sensibly until Xmas for the price drop/cashback.

Hopefully some time next week. I've gone for a kit lens. Reviews show the STM lenses are silent when autofocussing in video mode whereas the USM ones make lots of audible noise.

If you have the time/inclination, I'd be very interested in your impressions and perhaps some pics.
