I can't help but think that the tripod mounting holes are in the wrong places.

Actually, I now can't help think that the iPhone is noisy enough without something like an f5.6 being put in front of it as well.

Do you have to take into account a crop factor for the lens? By sensor size wouldn't this be around 7.5x? A 70-200mm becomes a 525-1500mm

**I dont know if this is true, I'm guessing

I can’t help thinking that that’s one of the most idiotic things I’ve seen for a long time. It’s a phone - you are still using the phone’s optics for the image, you are still using it’s puny CCD. Bolting a highly expensive lens onto a phone is asking for trouble.

What’s that? You can’t control the aperture on your DSLR lens?

Unless you get a proper SLR lens with an aperture ring. ;)

Looking at the FAQ tells me that much is wrong with this beyond the aperture control fail:

Quote:
Q: Hold up, why are the images upside down?

A: The SLR Mount doesn't have any mirrors inside. Usually there's a mirror inside your camera that flips the image right-side up. But iPhones are indeed mirror-less, so you'll have to rotate the images using an editing app.

OK - so no camera app to compensate for this then? Welcome to the 1800s photography folks!

My images are coming out a tad darker than I'd like, what's the deal?

Let’s have a think about this for a moment before we get to the answer. Lens, lens and another lens, some of these being lower quality plastic (more that likley the one in the iPhone isn’t that great).

Quote:
We've found that you'll lose about 1 to 2 f-stops when using the adapter. Using an older lens with a manual aperture ring helps control this. Otherwise you may need to brighten up the images in post.

TWO f-stops? Bloody hell, that’ll make some of the kit lenses more challenging. Also note that this will not work with the sort focus lenses (EF-S fits on Canon), so the bundled lenses with your prosumer camera DSLR won’t work.

Uhm, more than this, it's [LIFTED]. The only mirror is the one for the viewfinder.
