300mm on Full Frame (which Mark uses) isn't all that long really; it's very handy for picking out details in landscape shots,
Isn't that what I just said? (8+)

Well you know, I'm always repeating you...

You do, but there's no real rush. Whenever you get 'round to it'll be fine.

I can do nothing but recommend this lens. I hired one to take to the drag racing finals at Santa Pod a couple of weeks ago. I was amazed by the image quality and how quickly it would focus, keeping up with something doing the best part of 300mph was not a problem for it. I'll get some images up later on. It was always spot on sharp. I did make the mistake of going for a 2x teleconverter with it, although f5.6 was still pretty quick with the ISO up a little, the images where quite soft. After stopping the lens down to F10 or so they were 'ok' again. I do hear that it still yields good results with the 1.4x tele' though.

due to circumstances beyond my control

i like take piccie's of plane and my connon 75 - 300 would not do the job with my
2x converter

I spoke to a nice shop manger and got the Sigma 110mm to 400mm

paid £650.00 for it
and bought a canon powerpack as well £ 132.00 (to cover the power consumption)

(powerpack bought because i played for about 1.5 hrs and it eat half of battery )

powerpack great buy

lens two words

FING hell

stunning lens the built in giro's begger belief

also works with the 2x converter
on Canon's

very fing expensive setup

to make work but ii LOVE that new lens

if the 300mm is just as good

it becomes the sale of the century
