My camera is set (IIRC) to AdobeRGB1998 so I have set my monitor/Photoshop/printer colour profiles to the same. I havent got a colour calibration device but then I'm no pro so dont worry about it too much. The thing is though I can finish a photo it PS I'm happy with and save it but when viewing it in Windows (I guess it must be the Picture and Fax Viewer) the colours are suddenly more saturated with skin taking on a red tone. Any ideas why this happens? |

Ahh, the perennial problem of working on images for a Mac user. I know you're not using a Mac, but images processed on a Mac often look different when viewed on a PC. Have you checked you are using the correct colour profile for the monitor? I think Microsoft has made a download available to be able to check the correct ICC profile is used. It installs access for it in the Control Panel. However, if you're using Windows Vista, Picture and Fax Viewer does not use colour profiles. Mark |

Here is the link for the app that Tim mentioned. This one is for XP, (which I'm running) but I'll try and find a Vista/7 version when I get a minute. LINK |

There's no Mac involved. Its my camera and my pc. I edit the photo in Photoshop which looks fine. When I then browse it in windows using it looks different. I dont get it as the colour profile of the photo/monitor has remained the same. I suspect as has been said that if Windows default viewer does not support colour profiles that's where the difference is occuring. My worry though is that if I send a photo to print it will look more like the (bad) Windows version than the correct Photoshop version? |

If the image you send has the profile embedded, and you tell the supplier what profile you're using, it should come out okay. The profile is just a way of telling the various programs how to interpret the colours to keep it consistent. For example, if you sent me the image, Photoshop would flag up if your profile didn't match with my setup, and will let me assign a new profile accordingly. |

I've had a look around and couldn't find a Vista equivalent, but this link should help. Information about profiles on Vista - Link |
