Hi all,

Having purchased my new macro lens I'm keen to get some pics done. Now, like a fool I downloaded Camera Control Pro2 a while ago and obviously the trail has elapsed before I got my lens. Although the SDK's weren't released for my D70, so it doesn't support live view, CCP2 did allow me to alter camera settings on the fly and view the shots pretty much straight after they were shot.

As much as found CCP2 easy to get on with, it is a little excessive in the moolah department if I want to purchase it.

So, are there any 'similar' programmes that would allow me to alter my camera settings on the go and have a similar 'feel' to them?

Thanks in advance guys and girls. :D

Isn't there some software that came with your camera?

Canon provide some basic control software with their kit, so I assume Nikon do the same. There's also a thing Gavin has used with some success, which I understand works with Nikon and the name of which escapes me. Help! :?

Hi Heather,

I bought my camera secondhand, so if any did ship with it I'm afraid it's long gone now. :(

The software I use is Sofortbild, but it's mac only. There is also gphoto2 on linux, but nothing on Windows so far...

I had a trial with CCP at the same time as something called NKRemote. My preference was for NKRemote as it just seemed to offer more and be easier to use. It's a little cheaper than CCP, but not much.

Perhaps sending a nice letter to Nikon for a trial extension may help.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

I've just had a look around for some other options and found this article.

Clicky

I'll have a look at some of these when I get some time.

Heather reminds me of something I should have done: install Canon’s software on my MBP. Must seek out CD.....
