Post subject:  Missing Channels?

Evening all, a bit of a TV dilemma.

Long story short there are currently 2 TVs in use in the house, 1 in the front room and 1 in my bedroom. The TV downstairs gets all channels, and so did the one in my bedroom until recently - a few channels have disappeared (Dave, E4+1 and probably some others). I've tried re-scanning and getting a new aerial lead, but that hasn't worked.

I know we already have a booster device in the loft, is there anything else I can do to improve the signal? I'm not sure if it's because the signal is weaker due to being split between rooms (although I don't know why I had the channels before but not now) or it's perhaps something else. Any ideas?

We have a split signal between two bedrooms here and I suspect that's why I have a similar problem; downstairs gets Dave etc without any problems after all :(

A new aerial was bought so each TV would have it's own signal, though I've no idea when my dad will get round to installing it...

There's usually a button that tells you the signal strength. How is it?

Is it a booster with multiple outputs so that each room is running directly to it, or are there other splitters or joins?

The primary thing with a booster is to get it as close to the aerial as possible. Ideally it should be on the mast right next to it. Mine is in the loft, but there's only about 2 meters of cable to the aerial so that's pretty close.

I remember they did change some of the channels a couple of months ago in a fairly big way. How long ago did you lose them?

In halls, a mate of mine and I split an aerial cable after it was connected to a bioster. He had an lcd with freeview built in and received all of the channels. I bought an expensive freeview box and barely received half the channels. After swapping it for a cheap'n'cheerful one, I got more channels.Try swapping the boxes around and see how many channels you get.

+1 for booster and placing it close to the aerial.

The booster is in the loft with the aerial, not sure what configuration it is, I will try and find out.

I will check signal strength & try a different Freeview box too and report back.

A booster will also boost the noise on the aerial so you could still have problems. It might be worth trying.
