I have a very annoying problem with the reception of some Freeview channels, namely ITV, 4, and the +1's etc.

I think they're all the 490hz channels or something.

The thing is its always been fine before on the same aerial and BT Vision box. Its the same on the TVs own built in freeview tuner too. It happens on days when the weather is rubbish or fine so I dont think thats the issue either.

The strangest thing is that sometimes its fine. I can watch ITV for example in the day then on an evening (watching X Factor eg) its goes mental - pauses, freezing, etc.

I cant work it out at all.

Has anything new been brought into the house? My old PC used to affect damn near everything...

No nothing. I guess it could be next door? I'm not sure what they could have they would only interfere with certain stations though?

It could be something like a baby monitor.

Have you or next door bought something recently that might affect it?

I havent bought anything. Not sure about the neighbour. I'll have to ask when I get chance. Dont really know them that well though to be honest.

If it was something like a baby monitor next door for example is there a way around it e.g. boosting my own signal?

It could also be a faulty power supply on the same circuit.

Try unplugging stuff and moving appliances to see if that fixes it.

Some of the channels are worse than others. For example, Virgin 1 is has a muddy, dreadful picture, BBC 1 is much better. I think it’s all down to compression used.

Its not the problem here though. I can see the signal strength and its really good. The picture on the channels is perfect at other times in the day too. I'm sure the neighbour is turning something on thats causing some interference. I might try boosting my own signal and see what happens.
