Has anyone here had experience of portable headphone amps that they may be able to help me decide on which one to get?
I don't have the cans yet, but the ones I'm looking at are 250ohms, so I guess I'm looking at a 300ohm portable amp.
I've noticed the Fiio brand a lot in reviews whilst I've been looking around, but there just seems to be a lot of choice and there can also be a huge price difference in what's available too, so if anyone can help narrow the buying decision down, that's be great.

The questions reality are:
1) What sources are you using?
2) What's the budget?

I've had a few fiio ones and they're rather good, if you're looking at using an iphone as a source then look to connect over the lightning connector rather than analogue out.

Sources would be multiple; two Macs (which do have lightning connectors), but I'd also be using it on a work PC as well as my iPod video (30-pin connector), so it will need to have a line-out if only for the work PC.

Budget would be around £100 I think, as anything more would push the overall price (amp. + cans) too high.

So basically, if it has a lightning connector, all the better, but if not then it's not a deal breaker.

Something like the Fiio E07k with the Lightning camera connection kit would work.
Use the camera kit to get audio over usb from a newer iPad or iPhone. Usb from macs etc, it's got a line in as well.
Then a 30 pin to 3.5mm adapter from the iPod to it.

The reviews of that one certainly make it look like a contender.
Thanks for the help.

LG (with B&O) made a DAC/amp that can be used with the LG G5 handset or as a standalone device with other phone/laptops

http://www.lg.com/sg/lg-friends/lg-Hi-Fi-Plus-with-B-and-O-PLAY

I think it retails for around £150

Thanks for the info, but the unit you mention is £180 on Amazon, which is very nearly twice the budget I'd like it to be.
I'm still looking around, so if there's any others you can recommend I'll certainly give them a look.
