A friend of my brother has got some for sale BNIB...

http://www.monstercable.com/productdisplay.asp?pin=5506

and I've been looking for a new pair of earphones for a while.

He's got them for £80 inc P&P.

Has anyone bought any Monster earphones before? Or do you have any other options for a similar price that you would choose over these?

The control talk is very handy for me as I would like to replace my apple ones (with the mic and control built in).

Are these for your iPhone/iTouch? I looked at iheadphones and a few other apple related websites to see what was available. I set a budget and then looked what was available for the price range. Then looked at head-fi.org and the reviews on there.

Have a look at the shortlist I made in my other thread in this section. I had originally budgeted for £50 but found thatthis was inadequate for in-ear monitors. You have to go to double ~£100 to find decent ones. I bought some denon ones.

With the iPhone/iTouch controls, look at how many buttons there are. I have three but two are volume control. Only one is for play/pause/skip tracks/skip forward and backward using a combo of button pushes. This may be more important for you.

I would touch Monster (for the most part) like I would touch Bose (for the most part)

Never.

The only time I would is if they were the same price as a brand I would trust/use more

Worth looking at the pin out too, you might have that the 3/4 pole out might not be too good with other devices
