hi guys ive spent these past few days scouting around for a piece of PVR software to replace Windows Media Centre for watching TV through my TV card with. Basically i am fed up with the silly slow GUI and lack of advanced config options. ive already quite a few programs, all of which were either slower, didnt actually offer TV card functionality or i just plain couldnt get to work properly. these were, in no particular order: XMBC MediaPortal GB-PVR MythTV MPC-HC i think there was another one too, but the name escapes me at the minute so does anyone have any advice on alternate programs i could use to watch TV through my TV card? preferably one with a nice, snappy GUI that doesnt take an age to load up, im not fussed how it looks so long as its fast and functional. thanks |

Advance config options such as? MCE does most advanced stuff, you can add in channel logos, rename channels, skin the UI etc There isnt much else apart from Boxee, but you would need a server to revord the TV then stream it to the client |

media portal is OK. dvbviewer works as well. WMC is still my favourite though |

I have freesat hd playback/recording and media streaming on an Intel Atom motherboard + 2gb ram..... it's not slow for me, slight lag in changing channels but it's down to the p/i frame |
